Three days in London is enough for a first visit when a car does the travelling. Tripyana’s 3-day programme is a private Mercedes with a chauffeur for eight hours a day, collecting you at your hotel each morning: Westminster and Buckingham Palace on day one, the Tower and the South Bank on day two, then Windsor, Stonehenge and Bath, or more of London. From £1,110 for the car, booked in one go.

Why a private programme

Why spend 3 days in London with your own driver?

London’s landmarks sit miles apart. With a car waiting at every stop, the hours go on sightseeing, not on getting from one place to the next.

One booking, three days

Choose the programme and the car, pay once, and all three days are confirmed in a single email with the plan for each morning.

The same chauffeur every day

One professional driver for the whole programme, who learns your pace, your hotel entrance and who needs the front seat.

The car waits at every stop

Ninety minutes at the Tower or two hours in Windsor Castle: take your time, the Mercedes is parked nearby.

Your plan, changed on the day

Swap a stop, add Harrods or skip a museum within the day’s eight hours, with no new booking and no extra charge.

How many days

How many days do you need in London?

Most first-time visitors need three full days to see London’s headline sights without rushing. Here is how the number of days changes what you can fit in.

Two days: the highlights only

Enough for Westminster, Buckingham Palace and the Tower, but museums, markets and any trip outside the city have to wait for another visit.

Three days: the classic first visit

Royal London, the City and the river, plus one day of your choice. This is the length most families and couples choose for a first trip.

Four or five days: add the countryside

Extra days suit Oxford or the Cotswolds; our four-day London plan with the Cotswolds shows how. Keep at least three days in London itself, or the city feels hurried.

Arriving on a long-haul flight? Count the arrival day as a rest day, not a sightseeing day, and start the programme the following morning.

The itinerary

What does a 3-day London itinerary look like?

Here is the day-by-day plan with a 9:00am start. Pickup can be any time from 8:00am to noon, and every stop can be lengthened, shortened or swapped.

Day 2 · 8 hours

The Tower, St Paul’s and the South Bank

  1. 09:00Pickup at your hotel, arriving at the Tower of London for opening time: 9:00am Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00am on Sunday and Monday.
  2. 09:30The Crown Jewels first, before the queues, then the White Tower and the Yeoman Warders, about two and a half hours.
  3. 12:15Tower Bridge, with a photo stop on the south side of the river.
  4. 13:00Lunch at Borough Market, beneath the arches by London Bridge.
  5. 14:30St Paul’s Cathedral and the Millennium Bridge. Sightseeing is Monday to Saturday; Sunday is for services only.
  6. 16:00A stroll along the South Bank to the London Eye; the car collects you by the river.
  7. 17:00Return to your hotel.
Day 3 · your choice

Windsor, Stonehenge and Bath, or more of London

  1. WindsorAbout an hour’s drive to Windsor Castle and St George’s Chapel, lunch in Windsor or Eton, then Marlow on the Thames; back by about 5pm. The castle opens Thursday to Monday and closes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
  2. BathStonehenge in the morning, then the Roman Baths, the Abbey and the Royal Crescent in Bath. A longer day of about ten hours.
  3. LondonKensington Palace and Hyde Park, Harrods and Knightsbridge, Notting Hill and Portobello Road, and a last photo stop at Primrose Hill.

Each option is a set programme with its own fixed price, chosen on the booking form. Full details: Windsor Castle day trip and Stonehenge and Bath day trip.

Rain plan

What if it rains during your 3 days in London?

London rain rarely lasts all day, and with a car at the door you stay dry between stops. Each day has an indoor version that keeps the same route.

Day 1 in the rain

Spend longer inside Westminster Abbey, then swap the walk through St James’s Park for the National Gallery on Trafalgar Square, where general admission is free.

Day 2 in the rain

The Crown Jewels and the White Tower are indoors, and so is St Paul’s. Replace the South Bank stroll with Tate Modern, which is free and right by the Millennium Bridge.

Day 3 in the rain

Windsor Castle’s State Apartments are indoors, so that day works in any weather. On a London day, choose the Natural History Museum, the V&A and Harrods, all in South Kensington and Knightsbridge.

On wet days your chauffeur drops you at each entrance and collects you there, so the walking is from the door to the car.

Prices

How much does a 3-day London tour with a driver cost?

One fixed price for the whole car for all three days, not per person. Pick the day-three option and the vehicle; the total is shown before you pay.

What the price includes

What is included in the 3-day programme?

Everything the car and the driver need for three days, so the total you see is the total you pay.

Any London hotel, apartment or house; drop-off at the same door each evening, or at a restaurant if you prefer.

Fuel, parking and road charges

The Congestion Charge, parking near each landmark and all mileage for the three days are ours.

Child seats and pushchairs

Child seats fitted on request at no charge; the V-Class takes a pushchair alongside the luggage.

Free waiting within the day

The day’s hours are yours to spend as you wish; the car waits between every stop.

Not included

Entry tickets and meals. We tell you which sights to book ahead and when; you buy the tickets directly.

With children

How do you plan 3 days in London with kids?

Children enjoy London most in short stops with breaks in between, which is where a car with fitted child seats helps. Keep the same three days and change the pace.

  • Day 1: soldiers and pelicans

Children love the Changing of the Guard. Then visit St James’s Park, where the pelicans are fed fish daily, usually at around 2:30pm.

  • Day 2: ravens and Beefeaters

At the Tower, the Yeoman Warders and the ravens hold younger children’s attention better than the galleries. Go at opening time and keep the afternoon short.

  • Day 3: dinosaurs and a playground

Choose the London option: the Natural History Museum is free and open daily, and the Diana Memorial Playground in Kensington Gardens is a short drive away.

  • Ask for the V-Class

Seven seats leave room for a pushchair, and the car becomes a quiet place for a nap between sights.

Where to eat

Where should you eat near each day’s sights?

Lunch fits naturally into each day’s route, and your chauffeur drops you at the door. These are tried-and-tested choices near each stop.

Near Westminster and Covent Garden

Rules on Maiden Lane, established in 1798, is London’s oldest restaurant. The Covent Garden market hall has quicker options, and Fortnum & Mason on Piccadilly serves afternoon tea.

Near the Tower and St Paul’s

Borough Market, across London Bridge, is the classic lunch on day two, with dozens of stalls under one roof. Leadenhall Market in the City is a covered Victorian arcade with pubs and cafés.

On day three

In Windsor, eat on Peascod Street or cross the bridge to Eton High Street. On a London day, try the Harrods Food Halls in Knightsbridge or the cafés of Portobello Road.

Book dinner for the evenings yourself. The programme ends at your hotel; if you want the car for an evening out as well, ask us when you book.

Plan it well

When is the best time for 3 days in London?

Any month works with a car, because rain does not cost you the day. Choose the days of the week with care, though.

  • Start day one on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday

That puts the Changing of the Guard on your first morning. The Household Division publishes the exact dates each month.

  • Keep Sunday away from the Abbey and St Paul’s

Both close for sightseeing on Sundays. A Sunday works well for Windsor or the Kensington day.

  • Book timed tickets for the Tower before you fly

Arriving at opening time with tickets in hand saves the longest queue of the trip.

  • Plan Windsor from Thursday to Monday

The castle closes to visitors on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and sometimes on other days for royal events.

  • Want four or five days?

Our 5-day London itinerary by private car adds Stonehenge and Bath, the Cotswolds and Windsor. To sleep outside London, see the multi-day England tour with a private driver.

Questions

Questions about 3 days in London with a private driver

Is 3 days in London enough?

For a first visit, yes. Three days covers Westminster, Buckingham Palace, the Tower, St Paul’s and the South Bank, with a third day for Windsor, Stonehenge and Bath, or Kensington and Notting Hill. With a car waiting at each stop you see far more than on foot, and you can still slow down where you want.

How much does a 3-day London programme with a driver cost?

The price is for the whole car for all three days, not per person. In the Mercedes E-Class, the version with Windsor on day three is £1,160 and the version with Stonehenge and Bath is £1,290; the all-London programme is the lowest fare. Every price covers the car for full days, fuel, parking and the Congestion Charge.

Is it the same chauffeur on all three days?

Yes, we keep one chauffeur for the whole programme wherever possible, so the person who collects you on day one is the same person on day three. They know your hotel, your timings and your preferences after the first morning, and you have their mobile number the evening before you start.

Do the three days have to be in a row?

The online programme runs on three consecutive days from the date you choose, at the same pickup time each morning. If you need a gap between the days or different start times, book the first day here and add a note, or send us your dates and we will confirm the plan in writing.

Is the driver a tour guide?

No. Your chauffeur is a professional driver who knows London, its closures and the best photo stops, and will point things out on the way, but does not give guided commentary inside the sights. If you would like a qualified guide to join you, we can add one to any day, priced separately.

What should first-time visitors avoid in London?

Avoid planning Westminster Abbey or St Paul’s for a Sunday, when both close for sightseeing, and avoid Windsor on a Tuesday or Wednesday. Book timed tickets for the Tower before you travel, and do not try to fit more than four major sights into one day; the car saves time, but each landmark deserves an hour or more.

Can I cancel, and how do I pay?

Yes. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup, with any card payment refunded in full; inside 24 hours the fare is charged. Pay by card on the booking form, or choose cash and settle with your chauffeur in pounds sterling on the first day.
