How it works

How does the Heathrow layover tour work?

One driver, one car and one return time, planned backwards from your onward flight:

Met inside arrivals

The driver waits at your arrival terminal with a name board. The flight is tracked, with 60 minutes of free waiting after landing.

Bags ride in the car

Hand luggage and any collected cases stay in the locked Mercedes at every stop. No locker to find.

Three routes, one choice

London highlights in 4 hours, Windsor Castle in 4 hours, or Stonehenge in 6 hours. Each is timed for a connection.

Dropped at departures on time

Two hours before take-off, on every flight. That time is written into the confirmation.

A short film of the tour in order: landing at Heathrow, your driver waiting in arrivals with a name board, bags in the car, how long a layover you need, London, Windsor Castle or Stonehenge, and the drop at departures two hours before take-off.

Layover length

How long a layover do you need to leave Heathrow?

Six and a half hours for the 4-hour options and eight and a half hours for Stonehenge. Your driver meets you 30 minutes after landing, then comes the car time, and you are back at the terminal 2 hours before take-off.

The three options

London, Windsor or Stonehenge: which layover tour should you choose?

Windsor for a layover under 7½ hours, London for 6½ to 7½ hours, Stonehenge from 8½ hours. Drive time from Heathrow decides it. Windsor is about 20 minutes away at any hour, central London 35 to 68 minutes depending on the hour, Stonehenge 81 to 95. All three are measured hour by hour in our journey-time study.

Immigration

Do transit passengers need an ETA or visa to leave Heathrow?

Yes for most visitors: leaving the terminal means passing through UK border control. GOV.UK states an ETA is needed when you pass border control before an onward journey. Travellers from the USA, Canada, Australia and Europe usually need an ETA, not a visa; it costs £20, applied for online. Other nationalities may need a Visitor in Transit visa.

  • Airside onlya connection that never passes border control needs no ETA, and cannot join the tour.
  • Checked bagscases tagged through to your final destination stay with the airline; ask at check-in whether yours are.
  • Not legal advicewe drive; the entry rules for your passport are on GOV.UK, linked below.
Before you book

What should you know before booking a layover tour?

  • Late inbound flightthe driver tracks it and waits. The return time never moves, so a delay shortens the tour, not the connection.
  • Terminal changeHeathrow has four passenger terminals on two sides of the airfield. The drop is at the one your onward flight uses.
  • Child seatsfitted on request at no charge; give us the children’s ages when you book.
  • Staying overnight insteadfrom 12 hours between flights, a Heathrow transfer to a London hotel with a separate return works better.
  • Not leaving the airporttoo short to leave? The Windsor Suite private terminal is the airside alternative, a separate service.
How to book

How do I book the layover tour?

Open the booking form, choose Hourly, set your Heathrow terminal as the pickup, then the hours and your farthest stop. The fixed price shows before you pay.

2

On landing, look for the name board in the arrivals hall; the driver is already there.

Questions

Frequently asked questions about the Heathrow layover tour

How long a layover do I need for a tour outside Heathrow?

At least 6½ hours for the 4-hour London or Windsor options and 8½ hours for Stonehenge. That is 30 minutes from landing to meeting your driver, the car time, and two hours at the terminal before take-off. With 5½ hours we shorten Windsor to 3 hours on the road; the 4-hour minimum still applies.

Do I need a visa or ETA to leave Heathrow between flights?

Yes for most visitors, because leaving the terminal means passing through UK border control. GOV.UK states an ETA is required when you pass border control before an onward journey. Visitors from the USA, Canada, Australia and Europe usually need an ETA rather than a visa. Check GOV.UK for your own passport.

What happens to my luggage during the tour?

Cases tagged through to your final destination stay with the airline. Anything you collect or carry rides in the locked car at every stop. There is no locker or left-luggage desk to find. The E-Class takes 2 cases and the V-Class takes 7.

What if my inbound flight lands late?

The driver tracks the flight and waits 60 minutes after landing at no charge. The return time at the terminal never moves, so a late arrival shortens the tour rather than your connection. If the delay leaves no usable time, we agree a shorter plan before the return leg.

Are Windsor Castle and Stonehenge tickets included?

No. Tripyana provides the car and the driver; entry is bought separately on the official websites. Windsor Castle is closed to visitors on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and Stonehenge sells timed tickets with last entry at 3pm. Book the entry once we confirm your pickup time, and share it so the driver plans the return.

How much does the layover tour cost, and can I cancel?

The fare is for the whole car, not per person: the 4-hour London option in a Mercedes E-Class is the lowest, and Windsor and Stonehenge are priced above. Fuel, parking, waiting and the terminal drop are included. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup.
