Windsor Castle & Marlow Day Trip — Your Private Car from London Waits

From your London hotel door to a full Thames-side day: Windsor Castle — the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world — then the Georgian riverside towns of Marlow and Henley-on-Thames. The day runs around eight hours and your driver waits at every stop: the castle and town in the morning, the river towns in the afternoon, all at your own pace. One fixed price for the whole car, return.

Your day

How the day runs

  1. Departure from your hotel

Your driver arrives at your London hotel entrance at the time you chose, between 8:00am and 12:00 noon. The drive to Windsor takes around an hour depending on traffic.

  2. Windsor Castle

The State Apartments with their royal collections, St George’s Chapel — resting place of kings and queens — and the famous Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House. Most visitors take two and a half to three hours.

  3. Windsor town and Eton Bridge

A walk through the cobbled lanes below the castle, then across the Thames on Eton Bridge for the view back to the walls — with cafés and riverside restaurants for lunch.

  4. The Long Walk optional

The dead-straight tree-lined avenue running from the castle gates through Windsor Great Park — ten minutes on it are enough for the photograph everyone comes for.

  5. Marlow

Twenty-five minutes on from Windsor: a Georgian town right on the Thames — the white suspension bridge beside All Saints’ church, the weir at Higginson Park, and a high street of independent shops and cafés.

  6. Henley-on-Thames

The prettiest half hour of river country brings you to Henley — the five-arched bridge, the tower of St Mary’s church above the rooftops, and the riverside walk along the world-famous Royal Regatta course.

  7. Back to your hotel

Your driver returns you from Henley to the same address you started from — about an hour and a quarter back to central London.

What you get

Included and not included

Included in the price

  • Private car with driver for the day
  • Pickup and drop-off at your London address
  • Driver waiting at every stop, all day
  • Fuel and road tolls
  • Parking at every stop
  • Child seats on request

Not included

  • Castle entry tickets — booked on the official website
  • Food and drink during the day
  • A licensed tour guide (available separately)

Know before you go

  • The castle is closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for most of the year. Check the official Windsor Castle website before you choose your date — closures also happen at short notice for royal events.
  • Last admission is around 4:00pm. The castle comes first in the day for exactly that reason — an early departure gives it an unhurried morning before the river towns.
  • Book castle tickets ahead. Timed tickets on the official website are cheaper than the gate and skip the queue at busy times.
  • St George’s Chapel closes to visitors on Sundays. Services take place instead; if the chapel matters to you, pick another day of the week.

FAQ

Questions about this trip

Does the driver wait during the castle visit?
Yes. Your driver waits in Windsor for the whole visit. When you are ready — after the castle, the town or the Long Walk — the car is there. Waiting time is included in the fare.
Do you book the castle tickets?
No. We provide the car and driver only; tickets are booked by you on the official website. Book them before the car so your date is one the castle is open.
Is the price per person or per car?
Per car, return — never per person. Choose the class that fits your group: the E-Class and S-Class seat up to three, the V-Class up to seven, and the fare stays the same however many of you travel. The exact figure for each class is in the vehicle cards above, and it includes fuel, road tolls and parking at the destination.
How long is the drive from London?
Around an hour from central London to Windsor, twenty-five minutes on to Marlow and about the same again to Henley-on-Thames — short hops all day. Windsor is about 25 miles (40 km) west of London along the M4, so most of the day is spent at the sights rather than on the road.
Is Windsor suitable for children?
Very — the Dolls’ House, the Changing of the Guard and the riverside make it the easiest royal day out with a family, and child seats are fitted on request.
Can you collect me from outside London?
The prices shown are calculated for a pickup inside London. If you are staying outside the city, contact us before booking and we will confirm the right price for you.
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes — free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup, with a full refund of any card payment. Cancellations inside 24 hours are charged in full, and a change requested less than 12 hours before departure may be treated as a cancellation. To cancel, reply to your confirmation email; the full policy is in our terms and conditions.
How do I pay?
You can pay the driver in cash on the day, or by card through the booking form on this page. Card payments are processed securely when you book and you receive a written confirmation by email; if you prefer cash, choose that option in the form and settle with the driver in pounds sterling on the day.

Honestly one of the best decisions I made. The guy was literally waiting at the plane door at Heathrow, walked me straight through the fast track. I was out before my friends even got off the plane lol. 100% worth it
