What does a 4-day London itinerary look like?
Here is our 4-day London itinerary, day by day, with a 09:00 start; pickup can be any time from 08:00 to noon. Every time below includes the drive before it and can shift a little with traffic. Your chauffeur sets you down close to each area, and you walk between sights a few minutes apart while the car waits nearby.
Start on a Monday to Thursday: day one then avoids Sunday, when the Abbey is closed to sightseers, and the Tower day falls on a day St Paul’s opens. On the Oxford & Windsor plan, a Monday to Wednesday start also keeps day four off a Sunday, when St George’s Chapel is closed.
Westminster and royal London
- 09:00 Pickup at your hotel, then Westminster Bridge for Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament.
- 09:45 Westminster Abbey, about an hour inside.
- 11:00 Buckingham Palace and The Mall. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday the Changing of the Guard starts here at 11:00.
- 12:15 A walk through St James’s Park; your chauffeur meets you on the far side at Horse Guards.
- 13:00 Trafalgar Square and lunch, then the National Gallery or the shops of Covent Garden.
- 17:00 Drop-off at your hotel.
The Tower, the City and the South Bank
- 09:00 Pickup at your hotel.
- 09:30 The Tower of London, about 30 minutes from a central hotel. It opens at 9:00 Tuesday to Saturday and 10:00 on Sunday and Monday. See the Crown Jewels first, then the White Tower and the Yeoman Warders, about 2 hours 30 minutes.
- 12:15 Tower Bridge, then lunch at Borough Market by London Bridge.
- 14:30 St Paul’s Cathedral, open to sightseers Monday to Saturday, and the Millennium Bridge.
- 16:00 Tate Modern or the South Bank; the car collects you by the river and you are back by 17:00.
Kensington, then Greenwich
- Day 3 09:00 pickup for Kensington Palace and Kensington Gardens, then the Natural History Museum at about 11:30 and lunch and Harrods in Knightsbridge from 13:30; home at 17:00. The three stops sit a mile or so apart, and the car covers the gaps and carries the shopping, which helps most with children or in the rain.
- Day 4 09:00 pickup and about 45 minutes east to Greenwich for the Cutty Sark, open daily from 10:00 to 17:00, then Greenwich Park and lunch at Greenwich Market. Canary Wharf follows at about 14:30, and you return at 17:00. The Royal Observatory is closed for building work from 2 November 2026 until summer 2027; the Cutty Sark, the National Maritime Museum and the Queen’s House stay open.
Oxford’s colleges, then Windsor Castle
- Day 2 Leave at 09:00 and reach Oxford at about 10:30, 1 hour 30 minutes away: the Radcliffe Camera, Christ Church and lunch in the Covered Market. Leave at about 15:30, back at your hotel by 17:00.
- Day 4 Leave at 09:00 and reach Windsor Castle at about 10:00, an hour’s drive. St George’s Chapel, lunch in Eton across the bridge, then Marlow on the Thames; back by 17:00. The castle opens Thursday to Monday.
The Oxford day is also sold on its own: our Oxford day trip by private car.
Stonehenge and Bath, then the Cotswolds villages
- Day 2 Leave at 08:00 and reach Stonehenge at about 10:00, then Bath at about 13:00 for the Roman Baths, the Abbey, Pulteney Bridge and the Royal Crescent. Leave at 15:30, back at your hotel at about 18:00: a 10-hour day.
- Day 4 Leave at 09:00 for Burford, about two hours west, then Bibury and Arlington Row at 11:30, and lunch and Bourton-on-the-Water from 13:00. Leave at 16:00, back by about 18:00: a 9-hour day. The villages are free to walk.
Spend longer in the villages on our Cotswolds day trip by private car.

Is 4 days in London enough, or do you need 3 or 5?
Four days suit a first visit: two days take in Westminster, Buckingham Palace, the Tower and St Paul’s, and the other two go to Kensington and Greenwich, or out of town.
Three days: our 3-day London itinerary keeps the two big London days and adds one more. Five days: the 5-day London itinerary by car adds Stonehenge, Bath and Windsor, with London as your base every night.
Any one day can be swapped: the Harry Potter Studio Tour is the most requested, Cambridge can replace Oxford, and a second-visit city day can go to Notting Hill and Camden. More ideas are on our private UK tours page.

How do you plan a 4-day London trip with kids, at an easy pace or in winter?
- Room for a family The V‑Class seats seven and takes a pushchair beside the luggage, and it becomes a quiet place for a nap between sights.
- What children enjoy The Changing of the Guard and the pelicans of St James’s Park on day one, the ravens and Beefeaters at the Tower, the dinosaurs of the Natural History Museum, and paddling in the shallow river at Bourton-on-the-Water in summer.
- An easier pace Plan two main sights a day and a later start. Your chauffeur drops you at each entrance and collects you at the exit. Oxford & Windsor has shorter drives than the Cotswolds & Bath plan, and Four London days has no long drives; tell us about a folding wheelchair or frequent breaks when you book.
- In the rain Longer inside the Abbey and the Tower, or in the National Gallery and the British Museum, both free; Stonehenge has an indoor exhibition, and the Roman Baths are under cover. If heavy rain is forecast on a country day, tell your chauffeur the evening before and a city day can usually swap in.
- In winter From November to January it is dark by about 4pm, so keep the outdoor stops, the Cotswolds villages and Marlow included, before 15:30. Hyde Park Winter Wonderland runs from 19 November 2026 to 3 January 2027, except Christmas Day. Most sights close on at least one day between 24 and 26 December, while the car runs on Christmas Day.

What do our guests say?
From our guests’ reviews on Google Maps and Trustpilot, quoted as written. They are about our trips and transfers in general, not this programme alone.

Review published on Google MapsQuestions about 4 days in London with a private driver
Is it the same chauffeur on all four days?
Yes, we keep one chauffeur for the whole programme wherever possible, and they plan each morning around the entry times you add to your booking notes. The car class you booked stays the same on all four days.
How much is an extra hour for a show or a late dinner?
On Four London days each extra hour is £45 in the E‑Class, £60 in the V‑Class, £70 in the S‑Class and £80 in the Range Rover. On the Oxford & Windsor and Cotswolds & Bath programmes it is £55 in the E‑Class, £60 in the V‑Class and £80 in the S‑Class. Add the hours on the booking form, and they are in the total before you pay.
Are child seats free?
Yes. Baby seats, child seats and boosters for every age are fitted free on request. Tell us the children’s ages when you book, and the seats are in the car from the first morning.
Is waiting time charged while we visit?
No. Waiting while you visit is part of the day’s hours, not billed on top, and your chauffeur stays on the phone so you can call when you come out. Only hours beyond the day’s length are extra.
Do the four days have to be in a row?
Online, yes: four days in a row at one pickup time. For a rest day between them or different start times, send us your dates and we send a fixed price for the whole car within the hour.
Can we make the Harry Potter Studio Tour our fourth day?
Yes, in place of Greenwich, Windsor or the Cotswolds, priced on request. Studio tickets are timed and sold only in advance, so book your slot first, then ask us for a quote: the chauffeur sets the pickup around your slot and waits during the visit.
Where should we stay for a 4-day trip to London?
Stay central, and west of the centre if you take country days: Kensington, Knightsbridge, Marylebone and Paddington are closer to Oxford, Windsor, Bath and the Cotswolds. One hotel for all four nights is easiest, as the chauffeur collects you from the same door. You book the hotel yourself.
Is the driver a tour guide?
No. Your chauffeur is a professional driver who knows London, its closures and the best photo stops, and points things out on the way, but does not give guided commentary inside the sights. A qualified guide can join any day at a separate price.
Can I cancel?
Yes. Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup, with any card payment refunded in full; inside 24 hours only the first day is charged, and the other three days are refunded in full. If you chose to pay the chauffeur on day one, cancelling in time costs nothing.
