Cotswolds Tour from London — Private Car, Stops Where You Like

From your London hotel door to the honey-stone heart of the Cotswolds — Burford, Bibury with its famous Arlington Row, and Bourton-on-the-Water — in one unhurried day. This is the route where a private car earns its keep: you stop wherever the view deserves it, stay as long as you like, and never watch the clock. One fixed price for the whole car, return.

Your day

How the day runs

  1. Departure from your hotel

Your driver arrives at your London hotel entrance at the time you chose, between 8:00am and 12:00 noon. The drive out to the Cotswolds takes a little under two hours.

  2. Burford

The gateway to the Cotswolds — a single steep high street of antique shops and tearooms dropping to the river. A natural stop for lunch.

  3. Bibury

The heart of the day. Arlington Row — the crooked line of weavers’ cottages that appears on postcards, passports and film sets — then the River Coln along the water meadows, St Mary’s church and the village trout farm. Stay as long as the village deserves.

  4. Bourton-on-the-Water

The “Venice of the Cotswolds”, with the River Windrush running shallow under its low stone bridges through the village green.

  5. The Slaughters optional

Upper and Lower Slaughter — two tiny villages on the River Eye with no shops to speak of, which is exactly their charm. A quiet last stop before the road home.

  6. Back to your hotel

An easy drive home — most guests sleep. Your driver returns you to the same address you started from.

What you get

Included and not included

Included in the price

  • Private car with driver for the day
  • Pickup and drop-off at your London address
  • All stops on the route — as many as you like
  • Fuel and road tolls
  • Parking at every stop
  • Child seats on request

Not included

  • Entry tickets to attractions (the trout farm and similar) — where you choose to go in
  • Food and drink during the day
  • A licensed tour guide (available separately)

Know before you go

  • This is a car-first route. The villages are scattered along narrow country lanes, which is exactly where a private car shines: you see what you like at your own pace, with the car always a few steps away.
  • Wear comfortable shoes. The pleasure of the Cotswolds is walking: lanes, bridges and riverbanks. Nothing strenuous, but you will be on your feet often.
  • It is a long, full day. Around nine to ten hours door to door. An earlier departure makes the day noticeably calmer.
  • The route is yours to bend. Prefer longer in Bibury and fewer stops, or the reverse? Tell your driver in the morning — the day is private, so the plan is too.

FAQ

Questions about this trip

Is this a Cotswolds tour from London?
Yes. Bibury, Burford and Bourton-on-the-Water are all Cotswolds villages, about 85 miles west of London, and the car goes door to door from your hotel. Unlike a coach tour there is no fixed route: ask your driver to add Stow-on-the-Wold or Castle Combe and the day simply bends around your wishes.
Can we really stop anywhere?
Yes — that is the point of the trip. If a view, a village or a pub deserves a stop, ask your driver and the car pulls over. There is no fixed timetable.
Is the price per person or per car?
Per car, return — never per person. Choose the class that fits your group: the E-Class and S-Class seat up to three, the V-Class up to seven, and the fare stays the same however many of you travel. The exact figure for each class is in the vehicle cards above, and it includes fuel, road tolls and parking at the destination.
How long is the full day?
Around nine to ten hours door to door, with roughly two hours of driving out to Bibury and easy half-hour hops between the villages. Bibury is about 85 miles (135 km) west of London, and the return leg in the late afternoon is usually the quietest stretch of the day.
Does the driver wait at every stop?
Yes. Your driver parks and waits at every town and village on the route — the car is never far from where you are walking. Waiting time is included in the fare, and the driver stays a phone call away so you return to the car whenever you are ready.
Is the driver also a tour guide?
No, the driver is not a licensed tour guide; their job is the driving and looking after your day. If you would like a guide with you, that is available separately. If you would like a guide with you for the day, our tour guide in London service is booked separately.
Can you collect me from outside London?
The prices shown are calculated for a pickup inside London. If you are staying outside the city, contact us before booking and we will confirm the right price for you.
Can I cancel my booking?
Yes — free cancellation up to 24 hours before pickup, with a full refund of any card payment. Cancellations inside 24 hours are charged in full, and a change requested less than 12 hours before departure may be treated as a cancellation. To cancel, reply to your confirmation email; the full policy is in our terms and conditions.
How do I pay?
You can pay the driver in cash on the day, or by card through the booking form on this page. Card payments are processed securely when you book and you receive a written confirmation by email; if you prefer cash, choose that option in the form and settle with the driver in pounds sterling on the day.

Honestly one of the best decisions I made. The guy was literally waiting at the plane door at Heathrow, walked me straight through the fast track. I was out before my friends even got off the plane lol. 100% worth it
