The journey

The drive from Southampton to Heathrow is around 70 miles up the M3, usually 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes door-to-door depending on traffic. A Southampton cruise port to Heathrow pickup starts in one of two dock areas: Ocean and QEII sit in the Eastern Docks, while City, Horizon and Mayflower are in the Western Docks, so tell us your ship and your chauffeur will be at the right gate. We collect from every Southampton cruise terminal — City, Ocean, Horizon, Mayflower and QEII — and your chauffeur picks you up at your ship’s own terminal building, not a distant car park.

Cruise ship docked in Southampton before a private transfer from Southampton to Heathrow

Timed around your disembarkation

Ships dock in Southampton early — most guests walk off between 07:00 and 09:30, self-assist passengers often sooner. We agree your pickup time the day before, your chauffeur monitors the morning and waits at the terminal exit, and waiting is included — a slow baggage hall never costs you extra.

What time flight can I book from Heathrow?

For most sailings, a flight from about 13:30 onwards is a comfortable choice. The maths: guests are usually off the ship by 09:30, the drive is around 2 hours, and Heathrow recommends arriving up to 3 hours before a long-haul departure. Booked on an earlier flight? Tell us — self-assist disembarkation gets you off the ship first, and we plan the pickup accordingly.

Heathrow to Southampton — the outbound transfer

Flying in before your cruise? The outbound journey works the same way at the same fixed price — £225 in a Mercedes E-Class or £275 in a Mercedes V-Class. See the dedicated Heathrow to Southampton cruise transfer page for sailing-day timing and its own pre-filled booking form.

From Southampton cruise port to your hotel in London

Not flying home the same day? The chauffeur can drive you from the ship straight to your hotel in central London instead of Heathrow. The fare is the same fixed one per car as the airport run; the vehicle prices above show it for each car.

The drive is about 80 miles and takes around two hours from the Ocean Terminal to Park Lane, longer on a weekday afternoon. Your luggage goes from the quayside into the car and comes out at the hotel door.

Flying out a few days later? Book the hotel-to-Heathrow leg as a separate ride; the Heathrow hotel transfer page has its fixed fare.

Dover and Portsmouth cruise terminals

Disembarking in Dover instead? The return from Dover’s Western Docks to Heathrow works the same way — see the Heathrow to Dover cruise transfer page. Portsmouth sailings are covered too, and the Gatwick to Southampton fixed fare is published on the outbound page: book online or request a callback and we will confirm your quote.

Staying with the ship? Make port day count

If you are not disembarking and Southampton is just a stop on your itinerary, a private chauffeur day gets you to Stonehenge, Windsor or central London and back before all-aboard — fixed price, with the car and driver staying with you all day. Details are on our Southampton shore excursions page.

What’s included

  • Terminal-exit meet at Southampton — your chauffeur waits with a name board
  • Help with your cruise luggage at both ends
  • One fixed one-way price per car, shown in the vehicle chooser above
  • Pay securely by card, or in cash to your chauffeur
  • The price you see is the price you pay — no VAT added, no booking fee, no card surcharge

Disembarkation morning: luggage tags, self-assist and a stop on the way

How you leave the ship decides how early you can leave the port. Cruise lines offer a few ways off, and each suits a different flight time:

  • Luggage tags — you put your cases outside the cabin the night before. You collect them in the terminal baggage hall when your tag colour or number is called.
  • Self-assist — you carry every bag off yourself and are usually among the first guests ashore. It suits an earlier flight if you can manage your own cases.
  • Mobility help — arrange it with your cruise line in advance, then tell us, so the pickup allows for a slower walk off.

Send us your ship name and disembarkation group when you book. We set the pickup to match, and the chauffeur loads your cases as you come out of the baggage hall.

Flying out in the evening? A late flight can leave time for a stop on the way to Heathrow. Windsor Castle is a few miles from the airport, while Stonehenge is a detour from the direct route.

Your luggage stays locked in the car while the chauffeur waits. Stonehenge runs on timed entry tickets, so book yours before you sail. The same idea is described for the outbound trip on our Heathrow to Southampton via Stonehenge page; ask for the stop when you book the return.

Wheelchair users and passengers who need a hand

Select the special assistance option on the booking form and describe the help you need. Our Mercedes cars are not wheelchair-accessible vehicles. The passenger transfers from the chair to a car seat, and a folding wheelchair rides in the boot.

The chauffeur meets you at the kerb outside your terminal, holds the door and loads the chair with your cases. Help from the cabin to the terminal exit comes from your cruise line, booked before you sail. Tell us it is arranged, and we leave extra time at the pickup.

At Heathrow, the chauffeur unloads at the departures kerb. Your airline books the airport’s free assistance service for inside the terminal.

What happens if my ship docks late in Southampton?

Fog or rough weather in the Solent can hold a ship offshore for a few hours. Your pickup then moves with the ship, not with the original booking time.

Your chauffeur follows the arrival updates for your ship that morning. If the cruise line announces a new docking time, message us with your booking reference. We reset the pickup to match.

A late ship cuts into the time before your flight. Give us your departure time when you book, so we know your margin. On a tight morning, the car is ready at the kerb and heads straight up the M3 to Heathrow.

Do you provide child seats for the transfer to Heathrow?

Yes. Child seats are free of charge. We supply them for children of every age, from babies to older children who need a booster.

Add each child’s age and approximate weight in the booking notes. The chauffeur brings the right seat for each child, fitted before pickup, so nobody waits on the kerb.

Every child counts as a passenger, including babies. A family of four therefore needs the Mercedes V-Class, which seats seven. It also leaves space for the extra cases a long cruise brings home.

Travelling with a pushchair or a travel cot? List it with your luggage when you book, and we plan the boot space around it.

Frequently asked questions

How long does the transfer from Southampton cruise terminal to Heathrow take?

The drive is around 70 miles and usually takes between 1 hour 45 minutes and 2 hours 15 minutes door-to-door. Your chauffeur takes the M3 and drops you at your Heathrow terminal door. On a Saturday turnaround day, Google traffic forecasts put the road time at about 86 minutes leaving at 05:00 and 112 minutes leaving at 10:00, when most ships unload; the door-to-door range adds loading and the terminal exit.

What time flight can I safely book after my cruise?

Most ships dock in Southampton early in the morning and guests are usually off the ship between 07:00 and 09:30. Allowing around 2 hours to Heathrow plus the usual 3-hour check-in window, an afternoon flight from about 13:30 onwards is a comfortable choice for most sailings.

Is the price final?

Yes — the price is fixed when you book and includes fuel, fees and the terminal-exit meet, with no hidden charges. One fixed one-way price per car, unchanged from every Southampton cruise terminal.

Where exactly does the chauffeur meet me at the cruise terminal?

Your chauffeur waits at your terminal’s exit with a name board from the agreed pickup time. City, Ocean, Horizon, Mayflower and QEII terminals are all covered — the pickup point is your ship’s own terminal building, not a distant car park.

What if disembarkation runs late?

Waiting is included. We agree the pickup time with you the day before, and your chauffeur monitors the morning and stays in touch by message, so a slow baggage hall or a late gangway does not cost you extra.

How much cruise luggage fits in the car?

The Mercedes E-Class carries up to 3 passengers with 2 large cases. Most cruise groups choose the Mercedes V-Class, with room for up to 7 passengers and 7 large cases. After a long voyage, list any extra or bulky items, such as golf bags, when booking so we send the right car. If everything will not fit in one vehicle, we add a second car, priced per car like the first.

How much is a private transfer from Southampton to Heathrow?

A private transfer from Southampton to Heathrow with Tripyana costs a fixed £225 in a Mercedes E-Class or £275 in a Mercedes V-Class — for the whole car, not per person, including waiting time at the terminal and help with your luggage.

How much is a Southampton to Heathrow transfer in US dollars?

About $305 for the Mercedes E-Class and $370 for the seven-seat V-Class at the current rate — estimates only. Fares are set and charged in pounds sterling, so your card issuer’s exchange rate on the day decides the exact dollar amount. The price covers the car, not each passenger. The pound fare is fixed per car and confirmed in writing when you book.

Is a private transfer from Southampton cruise terminal to Heathrow worth it?

After a cruise, yes: the chauffeur is waiting where you disembark, all the luggage goes into one car, and you are dropped at the departures door of your terminal. The fare was agreed before you sailed and covers everyone in the car, so there is nothing to arrange on the morning.

Can you take me from the cruise terminal to a London hotel instead of Heathrow?

Yes. A hotel in central London costs the same fixed fare as the Heathrow run, shown in the vehicle prices above. Enter the ship’s terminal as the pickup and the hotel as the drop-off; the chauffeur meets you as you leave the terminal and helps with your luggage.

Should I choose self-assist disembarkation or luggage tags?

Choose self-assist if you have an early flight and can carry all your bags off the ship yourself; you are usually among the first guests ashore. Luggage tags suit anyone with heavy cases, as the crew moves them to the terminal baggage hall. Either way, tell us your choice and we time the pickup to it.

Can we stop at Stonehenge or Windsor on the way to Heathrow?

Yes, on request, if your flight leaves late enough to allow the visit. Windsor Castle is a few miles from Heathrow, while Stonehenge is a detour from the direct route. Your luggage stays in the car while the chauffeur waits. Mention the stop when you book and we confirm the timing with you.
