Warner Bros. Studio Tour London – The Making of Harry Potter is at Leavesden, near Watford, about 20 miles north-west of central London. If you are asking how to get to Warner Bros Studio London with the least effort, the answer is your own car and chauffeur: the whole day runs door to door.

• From your London hotel: your chauffeur meets you at the hotel entrance and drives straight to the studio, dropping you in the visitor drop-off area a short walk from the entrance.

Harry Potter Studios parking and arrival time

Yes, there is parking at the Studio Tour: a free car park on the studio grounds. With a private chauffeur it is not your job. Your driver sets you down at the drop-off point inside that car park, then parks and waits for your call.

• Free to park: the studio does not charge for its on-site car park, a few minutes on foot from the doors.
• Confirmation at the gate: every vehicle shows a Studio Tour booking confirmation as it enters, so keep yours open on your phone as the car arrives.
• Drop-off and pick-up point: the studio has a set point in the car park for both. You step out there, and the car is waiting at the same spot when you call after the tour.
• Priority Parking is not needed: the bays beside the entrance cost an extra £10, are sold online only with your tickets and cannot be bought on the day. With your own driver you can skip them.
• Coach and Blue Badge bays: the car park has designated coach parking, and Blue Badge bays sit close to the main entrance.

What happens when you reach the studio

Your chauffeur drops you at the door about 20 minutes before your ticket time, the arrival window the studio itself recommends. Every ticket must be booked online in advance, so have your booking confirmation ready on your phone.

• Security search: bags are checked as you arrive. Knives, scissors, metal nail files, glass bottles and alcohol are not allowed, so leave them at the hotel.
• Free cloakroom: coats and bags can be left at no charge until you leave, though food cannot be stored there.
• Suitcases stay with us: checking out or just landed? Your luggage stays locked in the car, so you carry only a day bag.
• Before your slot: the Food Hall, Dragon Roasted Café, shop and toilets are open to you, handy after an early start.
• Photos: phones and handheld cameras are welcome almost everywhere, except the security search, the pre-show cinema and the green-screen areas. Tripods are not.

Once inside you cannot return to the car park until your visit ends, so take what you need from the car before you go in.

Which ticket time to pick, and what if you run late

Studio tickets are sold online only, and each one carries a 30-minute entry window. You can walk in at any point inside that window, but once it has passed the studio cannot guarantee entry.

• Morning pickup, midday window: a departure between 8am and noon fits a late-morning or early-afternoon entry window, with time for the full visit and an easy drive back.
• Delayed on the road: if traffic puts your window at risk, call the studio on the number in your booking confirmation. Your driver gives you a realistic arrival time to pass on.
• Need another time? The studio can move your ticket to a different date or slot before your visit, subject to availability and an administration fee. Send us the new time and we move the pickup to match.
• Children aged 4 and under: they enter free, but still need a free ticket added to your booking. Tell us their ages as well, so the right child seat is fitted.
• Where you step out: cars use the studio’s own drop-off and pick-up point in the on-site car park, a short walk from the entrance. Your driver meets you at the same point after the tour.

The window only controls when you go in. There is no time limit once you are inside, and your driver stays until you call.

What if Harry Potter studio tickets are sold out for your date?

The studio runs strict capacity limits. Once a time slot is full it cannot add more visitors, it does not hold tickets back for phone sales, and nothing is sold at the door on the day.

• Check the official webstore again: visitors sometimes move their own tickets to another date, so places on a sold-out day can reappear. Look again in the weeks and days before you travel.
• Stay flexible on the day: a weekday, or a different entry window on the same date, is often still open when the weekend has gone. Any window that suits a morning departure works for the car.

• Breakfast at the Hogwarts Table: studio entry with a breakfast before your visit, served in its own dining room rather than on the Great Hall set.
• A longer visit: both packages add time on site, and Deluxe guests often stay well after the guided part ends. Name the package in your request, and the timing in your quote allows for the longer visit.

How the day runs

1. Departure from your hotel

   Your driver arrives at your London hotel entrance at the time you chose, between 8:00am and 12:00 noon. The drive to Leavesden, north of London, takes about an hour at those hours on a weekday, by our own hour-by-hour data.

2. The Great Hall

   The first set on the tour — the Great Hall with its original long tables, exactly as it appeared in the films. Entry is by the timed slot printed on your ticket.

3. Diagon Alley

   The complete street with its shopfronts as built for filming: Ollivanders wand shop, Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes and the Gringotts bank façade.

4. Platform 9¾ and the Hogwarts Express

   The real Hogwarts Express locomotive on the platform, with carriages you can step into for photographs — one of the most popular stops on the tour for families.

5. The rest of the studio

   The Forbidden Forest, Privet Drive and, at the end, the scale model of Hogwarts Castle. Most visitors take three to four hours over the full tour, and you are free to take as long as you like. With your own car and driver it becomes a private Harry Potter tour from London, timed around your studio slot.

6. King’s Cross station stop optional

   On the way back you can stop at King’s Cross to photograph the famous Platform 9¾ trolley inside the station. Just ask your driver on the day.

Included and not included

Can you add Oxford’s film locations to the studio day?

You can, but both in one day is a long, tight run. The studio alone fills most of a day, so most families give Oxford its own day and enjoy each one properly.

Oxford’s film settings sit inside working colleges. Christ Church has the staircase to its Great Hall from the first film, and the Bodleian’s Divinity School became the Hogwarts infirmary. Both need tickets booked ahead, and the Great Hall closes for college meals, so a rushed afternoon can arrive to locked doors.

• Two separate days: the studio on one day, then our Oxford day trip from London on another, with time for the colleges and the city centre.
• One long day: take the earliest studio slot, then drive on to Oxford for a short look at the outside of the colleges before heading back to London.
• Send both ticket times: share your studio slot and any Oxford ticket times when you book, and we plan the route and pickup around them.

Private Harry Potter tour London: the studio and the film locations

Your day does not have to end at Leavesden. On the drive back into town, the same car can stop at a few of the places in London where the films were shot, so the studio and the city become one day for your group alone.

• Platform 9¾ at King’s Cross: the trolley inside the station is the easiest stop, and it is already on the way back.
• Leadenhall Market: the covered Victorian market in the City stood in for the street outside the Leaky Cauldron in the first film.
• Millennium Bridge: the footbridge over the Thames is the one the Death Eaters bring down at the start of the sixth film.
• Australia House on the Strand: its grand hall was filmed as the inside of Gringotts. It is a working building, so you see it from the street.

Is the Harry Potter studio open on Christmas Day, and how should a December visit run?

The studio is usually closed on 25 and 26 December. Opening days can change, so check the official opening calendar before you choose your date.

In December it gets dark at around 4pm. A morning or early-afternoon entry slot gives you daylight for photos outside the studio. Your driver waits for the whole visit, so a finish after dark is no problem.

The last two weeks of December are the busiest of the festive season, and morning slots usually go first. We do not sell studio tickets; they are sold only on the studio’s official website.

Secure your ticket well before December, then send us the entry time. We set the hotel pickup around it, so you reach the doors with time to spare.

Is the studio tour wheelchair accessible?

Yes, the studio says most of the tour suits wheelchair users. Two surfaces are harder going: the cobbled street of Diagon Alley and the slate floor of the Great Hall. The Forbidden Forest is uneven underfoot but still suitable for wheelchairs.

Wheelchairs and stools can be borrowed at the Information Desk, first come, first served. Each paying disabled visitor can get one free essential companion ticket. Bring proof, such as a PIP letter or Blue Badge, and collect it at the Ticket Window.

On our side, a folding wheelchair or walker rides in the boot. Tell us when you book, so we keep that space clear of luggage.

Your driver pulls up at the studio’s own drop-off point and helps you out of the car. After the tour, call your driver and the car comes to the pick-up point.
