What Changes the Price of a Wedding Car?

Four choices set the total. The first is the car: the E-Class carries the lowest figure and the Range Rover the highest, with the V-Class and S-Class between them. The second is time. A registry office ceremony can take the four-hour minimum, while a church or hotel wedding with photographs usually needs the full eight hours.

The third is the number of cars. Each extra car for the bridesmaids, the parents or the groom is priced on its own, and guest shuttles are quoted from your schedule. The fourth is distance: inside Greater London the mileage never moves the figure, while a country venue is quoted as one total that includes the drive out and back.

Some things never add to it. The ribbons, the wait outside during the ceremony, a photo stop on the way to the reception, and the fuel and road charges are all part of the same price. When you weigh up what wedding car hire costs in London, check which of these each quote leaves out.

• Morning: the V-Class collects bridesmaids and parents from the bride’s home and reaches the venue ahead of her.
• Bride’s arrival: the bridal car leaves last, timed to arrive a few minutes before the ceremony with a margin for London traffic. During the ceremony the chauffeur waits with the car outside the venue, ready for the photographs and the drive to the reception.
• Photographs: a short stop at a park, a riverside view or a landmark can be added on the way from the ceremony to the reception.
• Reception: the couple arrive together, and the car stays for the evening exit if it falls inside the booked hours.

Book the bridal car first, while the date is still open. Guest cars can be added once numbers are settled, and every stop goes into the plan before the day.

• Before the day, the chauffeur checks the route and the stopping point at each venue, so nobody searches for the kerb with the bride in the back.
• The car reaches the first address ahead of the pickup time, ribboned and cleaned, and the chauffeur is dressed in a dark suit.
• At every door the chauffeur steps out, opens it and holds the train while the bride gets in or out.
• On a wet day the car pulls as close to the entrance as the venue allows, and the door is opened only when the bride is ready to step out.

Cold and wet days are more likely too. Ask for the cabin to be warm when the bride gets in; requests like this are agreed at booking with the ribbon colour. Winter traffic around the shopping streets is heavier in the weeks before Christmas, so leave a wider margin before the reception.
