Which day trip from Paris should you choose?
These are the best day trips from Paris by private car, and all six start at your hotel. The drive time sets the length of the day, so it is the easiest way to choose.
- Versailles: 30 to 45 minutes away
The closest trip and a half day. It suits a first outing, young children or guests who landed the day before.
- Giverny: about 1 hour 15 minutes
Monet’s house and water garden, open from April to October. A calm half day for garden lovers.
- Champagne: about 1 hour 45 minutes to Reims
The cathedral, two champagne houses and the vineyards. Everyone can taste, because nobody in your group drives.
- Loire Valley: about 2 hours to Chambord
Two great châteaux in one loop. A long day for guests who love castles and royal history.
- Normandy D-Day beaches: about 3 hours each way
Omaha Beach, the American Cemetery and Pointe du Hoc, for guests drawn to the Second World War.
- Mont Saint-Michel: about 4 hours each way
The longest day we run from Paris. Choose it when the island abbey is the one sight you must see.
Short on time? Of our private tours, Paris to Versailles and Paris to Giverny take five hours each, so you are back in the city for the evening.
When is the best time for each trip from Paris?
Every trip runs all year except Giverny. The season changes what you see, and in winter the long days start earlier.
- Spring, April to June
Giverny opens on 1 April, with wisteria and irises in May and roses in June. The musical fountain shows at Versailles usually begin at weekends, and the Loire gardens turn green.
- Summer, July and August
The longest daylight suits the twelve-hour days to Normandy, the Loire and Mont Saint-Michel. Water lilies cover Monet’s pond, and a 9:00 ticket at Versailles beats the midday crowds.
- Autumn, September and October
The grape harvest fills the Champagne villages in September. At Giverny, the last autumn flowers last until the gardens close for the winter after 1 November.
- Winter, November to March
Giverny is closed, so Versailles becomes the half day to choose. Chambord and Chenonceau stay open with far smaller crowds, and we plan an earlier start, as daylight is short.
- Closed days to check
The Palace of Versailles is closed on Mondays. The Normandy American Cemetery closes on 25 December and 1 January.
Can you combine two trips, or plan several days out of Paris?
Yes. Some places pair well in one longer day, and a stay of four or five nights fits two or three trips without rushing.
- Giverny and Versailles together
Both are half days close to the city. Ask for the two in one request, and we quote the longer day by email before you pay.
- Start with a half day
Versailles or Giverny suits the first day after you land. Keep Normandy, the Loire or Mont Saint-Michel for the middle of your stay, when an early start feels easy.
- Leave a free day between long trips
Two twelve-hour days in a row are tiring, even in a comfortable Mercedes. A day in Paris between them keeps the holiday relaxed.
- Book timed tickets first
Versailles, Giverny and the Champagne houses sell timed visits. Book those, then send all your dates together, and we reply with every price in a single email.
What time does each trip start and finish?
Every trip starts and ends at your Paris hotel. These are our typical pickup and return times, and we set the exact pickup around your entry tickets.
- Versailles: 8:15 to about 13:15
Pickup at 8:15 gets you to the palace gates for the first 9:00 entry, and you are in Paris again for lunch.
- Giverny: 8:45 to about 13:45
You reach the entrance as Monet’s house and gardens open at 10:00, with time for both gardens and the village street.
- Champagne: 8:30 to about 18:30
Ten hours, with the cathedral and a first house in Reims, then Épernay after lunch.
- Loire Valley: 7:30 to about 19:30
Chambord in the morning, lunch in Amboise, then Chenonceau before the drive home.
- Normandy D-Day beaches: 7:00 to about 19:00
The early pickup leaves around five hours for Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, the cemetery and Arromanches.
- Mont Saint-Michel: 7:00 to about 19:00
You arrive at the mainland car park around 11:00 and leave the Mont before 15:00.
How much does a private driver in Paris cost?
Every price is for the whole car, not per person: the E-Class first, then the V-Class. It includes the chauffeur, fuel, motorway tolls and parking, with nothing added on top.
- CDG or Orly transfer: €140 · V-Class €160
One way between the airport and central Paris, with meet and greet in arrivals.
- Versailles, 5 hours: €425 · V-Class €495
The shortest day trip and the best first outing from Paris.
- Giverny, 5 hours: €495 · V-Class €575
Monet’s house and gardens, open from April to October.
- Champagne, 10 hours: €895 · V-Class €1,050
Reims and Épernay with time for two house visits.
- Normandy D-Day, 12 hours: €1,150 · V-Class €1,295
The longest day, starting early from your hotel.
- Loire Valley, 12 hours: €1,195 · V-Class €1,395
Chambord and Chenonceau, with lunch in Amboise.
- Mont Saint-Michel, 12 hours: €1,250 · V-Class €1,450
The island abbey, the village and the ramparts.
Entry tickets, tastings and meals are not included. Night pickups between midnight and 5:00 add 20%.

Questions about hiring a private driver in Paris
Do your Paris chauffeurs speak English?
Yes. Every Paris chauffeur we send speaks English. You can also reach our London team by email or phone before and during the trip.
Is the price per person or per car?
The price is per car, for everyone inside it. A family of four in a V-Class pays the same as a couple in the same car. Tolls, fuel and parking are included, with nothing added on top.
Can you combine London and Paris on one trip?
Yes. Many guests use our chauffeurs in London first, then in Paris. Our London to Paris car can also drive you between the two cities. One company then looks after the whole holiday.
Is the chauffeur also a tour guide?
No. Your chauffeur drives, waits at each stop and gives practical tips, but is not a licensed guide. At Versailles, the Loire castles and the D-Day museums, audio guides or local guides cover the history.
How do I pay?
After we confirm your date by email, you pay the fixed total by card through a secure payment link. Nothing is charged before the confirmation, and nothing extra is collected on the day.
What is your cancellation policy in Paris?
Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before pickup. Between 48 and 24 hours, half the fare is charged. Inside 24 hours, or if nobody shows, the full fare is charged.
Can your chauffeurs take us on day trips outside Paris?
Yes. We run six set day trips from your hotel: Versailles, Giverny, Champagne, Normandy, Mont Saint-Michel and the Loire Valley. The car waits at each stop, then brings you back to your hotel at the end of the day. Each trip has one fixed price, agreed before the day.
Which cars do your Paris chauffeurs drive?
A Mercedes E-Class saloon takes up to three passengers with two large and two cabin bags. A Mercedes V-Class van takes up to seven passengers with seven standard suitcases, so it suits families and groups. Choose your car in your request, and tell us how much luggage you are bringing.
Do you offer CDG and Orly airport transfers?
Yes, between CDG or Orly and central Paris. Your chauffeur meets you in arrivals, tracks your flight and allows 60 minutes of free waiting, then drives you straight to your hotel. As with every Paris service, the fare covers the whole vehicle and is confirmed in writing before you pay.
Paris, Versailles, Champagne, Normandy or the Loire, with one private car.
