Weekday mornings for the quietest stores; the sales run from late December and again from late June.
- Opening hours:most Knightsbridge and Mayfair stores open at 10:00 and close between 18:00 and 20:00; Sunday hours are shorter.
- Personal shoppers:Harrods, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols offer them by appointment; book a week ahead and tell us the time.
- Tax refunds:the UK ended tax-free shopping for visitors in January 2021, so prices in store are final.

Frequently asked questions about a London shopping tour with a private driver
Why shop London with a private driver?
Because the best stores are spread across four miles and a car that waits removes the walking, the bags and the timing. You go from Harrods to Bond Street to Regent Street in minutes, hand each purchase to the driver, and finish the day with everything already in the boot.
How is the shopping day priced?
One fixed price for the whole car, from £370 for the full day in the Mercedes E-Class, covering the hours, the Congestion Charge, parking and fuel. Two travellers or seven pay the same for the same car; only the vehicle class and the day length, full or half, change it, and extra hours are added on the booking form at a fixed hourly rate. Purchases and meals are yours.
Can the driver help with the bags?
Yes. Your chauffeur takes each bag to the boot at the store door and keeps the car close to every stop. At the end of the day the bags go up to your hotel room with you, not carried through the streets.
Where does the day start?
At any London hotel, apartment or address, or at Heathrow, Gatwick and the other London airports. Pickup runs between 8:00am and 12:00 noon; a 10:00 start puts you at Harrods as the doors open.
Can we change the stores on the day?
Yes, within the agreed hours. Adding Westfield, swapping Oxford Street for King’s Road or staying longer in Mayfair needs only a word to the driver. Extra hours beyond the plan are added on the booking form at a fixed hourly rate.
Is Bicester Village part of this tour?
No, Bicester Village is a separate day outside London with its own fixed price. This tour stays inside the city; guests who want both usually take the outlet day first and the London streets on another day.
Which vehicles are available, and how much fits in the boot?
Mercedes E-Class and S-Class for up to three passengers with three suitcases; the Mercedes V-Class for up to seven with seven suitcases and the day’s shopping; the Range Rover for three. Child seats are fitted on request at no charge.
Other day trips to book
Every store on your list, one car, empty hands.
