How long a layover do you need to leave Heathrow?
Eight hours for the 4-hour options and ten hours for Stonehenge, on a long-haul connection. Allow about 1 hour to clear immigration and collect bags, then the car time. Then add 3 hours at the terminal, the figure Heathrow itself publishes for long-haul departures.

London, Windsor or Stonehenge: which layover tour should you choose?
Windsor for a layover under 9 hours, London for 8 to 9 hours, Stonehenge from 10 hours. Drive time from Heathrow decides it. Windsor is 17 to 23 minutes away at any hour, central London 35 to 68 minutes depending on the hour, Stonehenge 81 to 95. All three are measured hour by hour in our journey-time study.

How much does a Heathrow layover tour cost?

Do transit passengers need an ETA or visa to leave Heathrow?
Yes for most visitors: leaving the terminal means passing through UK border control. GOV.UK states an ETA is needed when you pass border control before an onward journey. Travellers from the USA, Canada, Australia and Europe usually need an ETA, not a visa; it costs £20, applied for online. Other nationalities may need a Visitor in Transit visa.

What should you know before booking a layover tour?

Frequently asked questions about the Heathrow layover tour
How long a layover do I need for a tour outside Heathrow?
At least 8 hours for the 4-hour London or Windsor options and 10 hours for Stonehenge, on a long-haul connection. That is one hour to clear immigration and collect bags, the car time, and three hours before departure. With 7 hours we shorten Windsor to 3 hours on the road; the 4-hour minimum still applies.
Do I need a visa or ETA to leave Heathrow between flights?

What if my inbound flight lands late?
The driver tracks the flight and waits 60 minutes after landing at no charge. The return time at the terminal never moves, so a late arrival shortens the tour rather than your connection. If the delay leaves no usable time, we agree a shorter plan before the return leg.
Are Windsor Castle and Stonehenge tickets included?
No. Tripyana provides the car and the driver; entry is bought separately on the official websites. Windsor Castle is closed to visitors on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and Stonehenge sells timed tickets with last entry at 3pm. Book the entry once we confirm your pickup time, and share it so the driver plans the return.
