What should you know before visiting Giverny?
The gardens change every month of the season, and the morning slots sell out first.
- Open 1 April to 1 November
The house and gardens close for the winter. Outside the season, Versailles makes an easy half day instead.
- Book a 10:00 ticket
The first slot of the day is the quietest. We plan your pickup around the time on your ticket.
- Choose your month
Wisteria and irises flower in May, roses in June, water lilies from June and dahlias in September.
- Add the Impressionism museum
The Musée des impressionnismes is a short walk from the gardens, with its own ticket. Ask for a longer day to fit it in.
Can you visit Giverny in winter?
No. The house and the gardens close after 1 November 2026 and stay shut until spring. The Fondation Monet announces the next season’s dates and ticket sales on its official website.
- Catch the last weeks
Late October still brings dahlias and autumn colour on the pond, and the crowds of May and June have gone. Book a morning slot before the final day, 1 November.
- Plan spring 2027 now
You can send your request for next season today. When ticket sales open, book your slot and send us the time, and we confirm your pickup by email.
- Pick a weekday
Weekends are usually the busiest days in the gardens, and morning slots go first. A weekday at opening time gives you the calmest walk round the pond.
- In Paris this winter?
Versailles makes an easy private half day from your hotel while Giverny is closed. For a full day out, Mont Saint-Michel is at its quietest in the low season.
Can you do Giverny and Versailles in one day?
Yes. A Giverny and Versailles day trip works on any day of the garden season except Monday, when the palace is closed. It is a full day rather than the five-hour Giverny tour from Paris, and the car waits for you at both stops.
Versailles in the morning, Giverny in the afternoon
- 8:15 Pickup at your hotel, in time for the palace’s first entry.
- 9:00 – 12:00 The State Apartments, the Hall of Mirrors and a walk in the palace gardens.
- 12:00 – 13:15 Lunch in Versailles, then the drive on to Giverny.
- 14:30 – 17:00 Monet’s house, the Clos Normand and the pond, well before the last entry at 17:30.
- About 18:30 Drop-off at your hotel or anywhere in central Paris.
