How much does a chauffeur cost per hour in London?
A chauffeur is not booked for a single hour. The minimum is a fixed four-hour package, and each extra hour after it is charged at the rate for your vehicle, shown in the table below. It covers the chauffeur, the vehicle, fuel, the congestion charge and the ULEZ charge, and every minute the car waits for you.

A booking of four hours or more is the right structure when the day has no fixed shape: three addresses in Mayfair, a school run and a dinner, or a shopping route where nobody knows how long the second stop will take. You are buying the car for a window of time, so a change of plan inside that window costs nothing extra.
How much does a personal driver cost in London?
A personal driver, a private driver and a chauffeur are the same job in London, and they are priced the same way. Every booking begins with a four-hour minimum; eight hours is one figure per car, shown in the rate table above. Larger vehicles cost more than the E-Class.
Two things surprise people searching for a personal driver. The price is per car, not per person, so four passengers pay what one pays. And no separate fee for the driver sits on top — the car, the fuel and the waiting time are all inside that one figure.

What does a personal driver cost for an evening, a day or a week?
The cost follows the length of the booking, and every booking starts from the same four-hour block. An evening out, an appointment with the wait included, or an afternoon of viewings fits inside four hours, and each extra hour is added at the car’s hourly rate if the evening runs on.
A working day or a shopping day around Harrods and Bond Street is better booked as a full day of eight hours, with the V-Class for up to seven passengers, the S-Class and the Range Rover each carrying a higher day figure than the E-Class.
A week with the same driver is a set of days rather than a separate tariff. Each day is booked as four hours or a full day, depending on its shape, and the whole week comes back as one written figure before you confirm. Is hiring a personal driver in London worth it?
It is worth it when the day has several stops, a group, heavy luggage or a time that cannot slip. One booked car then replaces a string of separate journeys, and nobody spends the day arranging the next ride.

Keeping a driver on staff is the other way households solve this, and the salary is only the first line of the cost. An employer also takes on payroll, employer National Insurance, a workplace pension, paid holiday and sick pay, and has to find cover for every day the driver is off. The car is a separate budget: buying or leasing it, insurance that names the driver, servicing, parking at home and at work, and the congestion and ULEZ charges on every London day.
Hours matter as well. A full-time driver is paid for the contracted week whether the diary is full or empty, and late finishes or weekend work usually mean overtime or time off in lieu. Employment pays off for a household that needs a car most days, every week. For a few busy days a month, or a season in London, booked blocks are the leaner structure: one price per booking covers the driver, the car, fuel and road charges, and nothing is paid on the days you stay home.
What does a full day with a chauffeur cost?
A full day is eight hours at one figure per car, in the table above. Up to about seven hours a four-hour block plus extra hours is usually the cheaper structure; past that point the day rate is, because it stops the clock. Several sightseeing days in a row are priced the same way: 4 days in London by private car from £1,480 covers four full days for the whole car, with the route planned for you, and 5 days in London with one chauffeur adds Stonehenge, Bath and Windsor or a Harry Potter family day.
Hours beyond the eighth are added at the car’s extra-hour rate rather than at an overtime penalty. If your day is likely to run to ten hours, say so when you book and the whole thing is quoted in one figure. Longer engagements are arranged through a private driver in London.
How much is a chauffeur from each London airport?
Airport and port journeys are not priced by time at all. Each named route carries one fixed figure in each direction, agreed before the car moves. Heathrow to central London carries one such figure per car class, and the same trip at 2am on a bank holiday costs exactly that. The fixed price includes 60 minutes of free waiting after an international landing, a chauffeur inside the terminal with a name board, and flight tracking that moves the pickup when the aircraft is late. What does a chauffeur cost outside London?
Distance replaces time as the driver of the price. Three routes are quoted as fixed figures rather than by time, because the return leg is unavoidable and the mileage is known before anyone sets off. Beyond the UK, the London to Paris chauffeur journey is also quoted as one fixed per-car fare, door to door through the Channel Tunnel.
Once you are in Paris, day trips from the city follow the same rule, one fixed fare for the whole car, from a half day at Giverny to a long day at Mont Saint-Michel.
Straight from the airport, the countryside runs follow the same fixed-fare rule: Heathrow to the Cotswolds and Heathrow to Brighton each carry one fixed fare per car, shown before you pay.
Southampton and Dover, the two cruise ports, each sit roughly 80 miles from central London. Southampton carries one fixed fare per car from central London, the same for embarking and disembarking. What changes chauffeur hire prices in London?
Four things, and the time of day is not one of them. There is no night tariff and no weekend tariff on any of the rates above.

The single biggest factor: the gap between the E-Class and the Range Rover is the widest single step in the table above.
How long you book
Four hours is the minimum. A full day of eight hours costs less than two four-hour bookings, which is why long days are booked as a day.
Miles beyond London and airport starts
Every booked hour includes 10 miles of driving, enough for a day in central London. Past that, each extra mile is £1.60 in the E-Class and a little more in the larger cars. Starting at Heathrow or London City adds £80; Gatwick, Stansted or Luton adds £120. Southampton and the published day trips keep their own fixed prices.
Waiting beyond the allowance
On a transfer, waiting past the free 60 minutes is charged at the car’s extra-hour rate, not at a penalty rate.

Do parking, airport charges or child seats cost extra?
No. Parking while the car waits is inside the quoted figure, whether the stop is a shop, a hotel or a meeting. You never settle a car park ticket at the end of the day.
On an airport pickup, the airport’s pickup and road charges are covered by the route price as well. Nothing is added because the car had to park while your flight landed. What does a chauffeur cost for a trip of several days?
A trip that runs over several days is priced as a chain of full days plus the driver’s overnight stays. Each day is charged at the full-day figure for the vehicle you choose, the same day rates quoted on this page, and each night away from London adds a £100 overnight allowance for the driver.
So a three-day tour with two nights away is three day rates plus £200. Some routes come as a set package instead: the 2-day Snowdonia tour from London has one price for the car with the driver’s night in Wales already included. The allowance sits in the quote as its own line, so the total you approve before pickup already covers the driver’s nights.
The same car and driver stay with you from the first morning to the last drop-off. Luggage stays in the boot between hotels, and there is no fresh booking or new driver to brief each day.

Is there a minimum booking for a chauffeur?
Yes: four hours. A chauffeur is not booked for a single hour; the four-hour figure for each car is in the rate table above, and extra hours are added after it at the rate for your vehicle. Airport and cruise-port transfers have no time minimum, because each route carries one fixed figure.
Do chauffeur prices rise at night or in heavy traffic?
No. There is no night tariff and no weekend rate. A Heathrow transfer costs the same at three in the afternoon as at three in the morning. Because the figure is fixed in advance, time spent stationary in traffic costs you nothing extra.
